Fiji has long been a hotbed of footballing talent in the Pacific, with club sides and the national team regularly performing well in OFC competitions.
Some of the region’s most exciting talent have come from the Melanesian island, including striker Roy Krishna, who holds the record for the most international goals by an OFC player.
Bula FC is a new venture, but will likely attract some of the highest profile players in the country, providing a platform never previously possible in the region.
Existing clubs such as Suva FC, Ba FC and Rewa FC have long established themselves as some of the top club sides in Oceania, showcasing the impressive depth of talent that Fijian football has produced over the years.
Bula FC will be hoping to leverage that talent pool, as well as building on the country’s previous success, to take Fijian football to even higher levels in this new, exciting professional era.
Stéphane Auvray has been appointed head coach for Bula FC, in a dual role that will also see the former New York Red Bulls midfielder manage the Fijian men's national team.
The Guadeloupe international - who captained his nation to a quarter-final appearance at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup - will be assisted by Marika Rodu, a man who knows Fijian football inside-out, having coached Rewa FC and the Fijian national side at U-20 and U-23 level.
