It's no secret that the Solomon Islands is one of the most passionate footballing nations in the Pacific. Their national teams across both the men’s and women’s games, through football, futsal and beach soccer, have achieved impressive levels of success, backed by an ever-present and loud support.
Solomon Kings FC gives the nation a new professional club to call their own – a first for the Melanesian country.
The club is a result of a partnership between the Solomon Islands Football Federation and Australian club Wynnum Wolves FC, based in Brisbane. As well as the potential benefit of talent sharing, the deal also allows for a secondary training base for the club, in Brisbane.
For such a small nation, Solomon Islands has an impressive track record of producing top talent, with the likes of Henry Fa’arodo, Micah Lea’alafa and more recently Raphael Lea’i blazing a trail in Pacific and European football.
Don Marahare is the club's inaugural Chairman and is excited about the significant potential the new team will have in growing football in the Solomon Islands to even higher levels.
"We are honoured and excited that Solomon Kings FC has been confirmed as a preferred club in the inaugural Oceania Football Confederation Professional League.
This milestone is a proud moment for the entire Solomon Islands football community and an important step in developing the game across our nation and the wider Oceania region as we look ahead to commencing in January 2026," he said.
