Auckland FC have confirmed their squad for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup™, as the OFC Pro League champions get set to face AFC Champions League Elite winners, Al-Ahli.
The New Zealanders take on one of Saudi Arabia's biggest clubs on Thursday morning (NZT), with the winners going on to face CAF Champions League winners, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the next round.
Auckland FC will be led by new A-League Head Coach Pedro Moreira, with the Portuguese assisted by the man who steered the side to their OFC Pro League triumph, Luke Casserly.
Seven of the squad were part of that OFC Pro League success, including Golden Ball winner Daniel Normann. The Norwegian midfielder - along with teammate Ronan Wynne - have since signed deals with Auckland FC's A-League team.
Pacific football fans will also likely be familiar with the experienced Cam Howieson. The former Auckland City FC midfielder captained the club to multiple OFC Men's Champions League titles and scored the winner in Auckland FC's Grand Final victory over Sydney FC in May this year.
