Sinisa Cohadzic steps down as South Melbourne FC Head Coach

South Melbourne FC have confirmed that Sinisa Cohadzic has stepped down as Head Coach of the club.

The Australian side were finalists in the 2026 OFC Pro League and recently made history by winning the Australia Cup - becoming the first non-A-League side in competition history to lift the trophy.

Cohadzic has been a key figure at South Melbourne for a number of years, with his achievements also including the Australian Championship and Dockerty Cup, as he leaves an impressive legacy at Hellas.

To win the Australia Cup against Melbourne Victory in the final, and to see what that meant to our people, is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. Sinisa has helped give this club and its supporters a moment that will live forever in our history.

South Melbourne will now be looking to confirm their new Head Coach ahead of both their domestic commitments in Australia and the new OFC Pro League season in 2027.

Assistant Coach Sam Poutakidis will take temporary charge as they begin their Australia Championship campaign this weekend.

South Melbourne begin the 2027 OFC Pro League with a 2026 final rematch against Auckland FC, on Friday, January 22 in Australia.
