South Melbourne FC appoint Jamie Reed as new Head Coach

South Melbourne FC have confirmed Jamie Reed as the club's new Head Coach, replacing Sinisa Cohadzic, who stood down following their Australia Cup success.

Englishman Reed formerly played for South Melbourne in 2014, and was part of their Championship title winning side that season.

The club enjoyed an incredibly successful 2026, reaching the final of the OFC Pro League in May and finishing with an historic Australia Cup triumph earlier this month, overcoming A-League side Melbourne Victory on penalties.

Jamie knows what it means to represent South Melbourne and the expectations that come with the role. His connection to the club, combined with his strong football background in the North West of the United Kingdom, makes him an excellent fit.

Reed's initial focus will be leading the team during their Australia Championship campaign, which kicked off last weekend with Hellas securing a 1-0 win over Sutherland Sharks.

Preparations will also begin in earnest for the new OFC Pro League season, with South Melbourne looking to go one better than their runners-up finish in 2026.

They begin the season on January 22 in Australia, in a final rematch with Auckland FC.
