South Melbourne FC have announced the signing of Australian midfielder Paulo Retre on a two-year deal.

The 33 year-old joins the OFC Pro League finalists with a wealth of experience under his belt, including over 200 appearances in the A-League, covering spells at Melbourne City, Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix.

He also boats two A-League titles, during his time at Sydney FC, in 2019 and 2020, as well as a number of appearances in the AFC Champions League.

Senior Football Director Peter Kokotis was delighted to be adding Retre's quality and experience, as South Melbourne look to go one better in the OFC Pro League in 2027.

“Paulo is a player whose quality speaks for itself. To bring someone with his experience, professionalism and winning mentality to South Melbourne is a significant signing for our football club.

“He has consistently performed at the highest level for many years, winning trophies and competing in some of the biggest matches in Australian football. Just as importantly, he is the type of person who will lift the standards around our group every day.
